Marsha Rose soon found it difficult to keep up with the demand, so in 1994, she took a leap of faith, left her day job and moved to Jackson, Mississippi to concentrate on her cake business full time.
In 1972, Obbies Cakes and Chocolates was born and soon established itself as the premier specialty bakery and catering company in Jackson.Obbies Cakes and Chocolates provided catering services for events ranging from intimate gatherings to large parties with hundreds of guests. Her specialty was designing and creating spectacular cakes that were a feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds.
In 2010, Marsha Rose made a decision to return to the Washington DC Metro area to be closer to family. Leaving Obbies behind, she continued refining her skills, working with fondant and other mediums to learn the latest techniques in cake decorating. Relying solely on word-of-mouth recommendations, Marsha Rose is building a clientele in the Washington/Baltimore corridor. Starting with a mouth-watering base of tender cake, filling and frosting or ganache enrobed in fondant, Marsha Rose hand crafts edible embellishments adding a touch of magic and whimsy to construct a unique, edible work of art.
